He organized court challenges overturning three Tim Eyman initiatives; now simple legislative majorities can close unfair tax loopholes to fund education and other vital services.

Jamie has served in the Senate since 2013. As Senate Law & Justice Committee Chair, he has championed gun safety, police accountability, abolishing the death penalty, and reforming the criminal justice system. Jamie has worked relentlessly to fund expansion of light rail and bus service and protect neighborhoods around SR520 and I-5 from noise.

Jamie has led efforts for full funding of public schools, so every child can get an excellent education. Jamie and his husband Eric, a former high school teacher and administrator, have four sons in Seattle Public Schools and live on Capitol Hill.
