Other Professional Experience: For 40 years McConnell has been engaged with public policy and politics through a career in community journalism in the Puget Sound, Northern California and the Tri-Cities. He has experience discussing policy issues with incumbents and challengers for executive, legislative and judicial branches on local, state and congressional levels. He was responsible for cash flow, regulatory compliance and strategic leadership for multi-million dollar publishing operations. He also owned and operated his own newspaper and printing company.

Statement: Government accountability and transparency should drive the actions, not just the talking points, of legislators. Legislators should be held to the same laws to which they hold other agencies. Supporting law enforcement, investing in school safety and guarding our First and Second Amendment rights are top priorities.

The state lacks an education strategy that aligns objectives with the needs of business. Good paying jobs go unfilled while thousands with degrees are unemployed or underemployed. McConnell will resist tax increases and focus on the efficient use of our tax dollars. We need taxation and regulatory reforms that encourage business expansion.
