Richard Knierim

Elected Experience: College of American Pathologists. Elected to the Board as a fiscally-responsible outsider. The CAP Foundation set a goal that no woman in the U.S. should die of cervical or breast cancer.

Other Professional Experience: Laboratory physician, Swedish Medical Center. Former Clinical Associate Professor, U.W. Former Consultant at Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center.

Education: Residency, University of Washington. M.D., Loma Linda University.

Community Service: Endorsed by Democrats and Republicans. Dr. Knierim works with all sides to get results. US Army veteran: Okinawa, Japan; Madigan Army Medical Center. Ethics Committee, Swedish Medical Center. Supports charities helping poor in the U.S. and around the world.

Statement: Eastside commuters are stuck in traffic and we don’t need to pay such expensive car tab fees to fund important Sound Transit projects. Students are victims of a partisan budget battle over school funding. And support for critical social programs is threatened every legislative session.

Dr. Knierim will work for fiscal responsibility in Olympia. He will make our priorities his priorities: funding schools and social programs; lowering car tab fees; and reducing traffic congestion for commuters.

Dr. Knierim will be the only elected physician in the state legislature. With daily threats from Washington D.C. and Olympia of losing health care coverage, he will be a leader on health care for all. As our Senator, he will fight to protect the vulnerable…including preserving funding for the developmentally disabled and others who desperately need our help.

“Throughout my medical career, I have aspired to be a servant-leader. I want to do the same as your Senator because I have watched politics become a kind of sport where one side wins but the other loses. I want to change that by being your independent voice.” – Richard Knierim
