Statement: Everyone who comes into a courtroom deserves to be treated with respect without regard to background or economic status. As a Superior Court judge I will administer justice fairly and impartially, imposing penalties when appropriate. However, administering justice also includes providing reasonable, creative, and fair alternatives, after carefully evaluating all the facts and circumstances.

Above all else, judges must be correct about the law on a wide variety of subjects. I have been lead counsel on trials in state and federal courts for over 32 years representing clients in personal injury and product liability cases, insurance litigation, contract disputes, wills, trusts, business matters, family law, and administrative hearings.

I have been an adjunct professor at Gonzaga Law School since 2000 where I teach insurance law. And since 2010 I have also been an adjunct professor at Whitworth University where I teach Business law and International Law and Ethics. I am a Life Fellow of the American Bar Foundation, and the American Judicature Society, and I am a proud supporter of the Equal Justice Coalition.

My wife and have been married for 43 years and have lived in Spokane since 1977 where our four children attended local public schools.
