Community Service: Serenity House Board of Directors; North Olympic Library System Trustee; United Way representative; Rotary Club exchange student host parent; soccer coach/board member; cub scout leader/board member.

Statement: He was admitted to the bar in 1978 and is admitted to practice law before Washington Courts, the federal District Courts for Washington, the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals and the United States Supreme Court.

Governor Jay Inslee appointed him Clallam County Superior Court Judge in December 2013 to fill the vacancy created by the retirement of Judge Brooke Taylor. He was elected in 2014 for the remaining two years of Judge Taylor’s term.

Enlisting in the Marine Corps in 1969, he trained as a rifleman and interpreter (Vietnamese-Defense Language Institute). He served with the 5th and 7th Marines in Vietnam in 1970-71, honorably discharging as a corporal.

Judge Melly is experienced, fair, respectful and humbled by the authority placed in the hands of a Superior Court Judge. He respectfully requests your vote so that his service to the citizens of Clallam County may continue.
