Statement: Spencer Baldwin will fight against money in politics and consolidating wealth and power. Spencer is running for the Senate because he believes Washington State is headed in the wrong direction. Faith and trust in our government has neen eroded by the influence of money in politics, corporate power, and a persistently regressive tax system. Spencer’s focus will be working to restore our faith by focusing on economic mobility, real mobility, and institutional reform promoting inclusiveness.

Upward mobility requires education. Washington’s Constitution dictates that education is paramount, meaning nothing is more important, so our legislature needs to follow the Constitution. We cannot fully fund education without fully funding our educators.

Upward mobility requires a living wage, paid sick leave, access to childcare, and functional transportation infrastructure. In the 21st Century, we should leverage technologies like Hyperloop, magnetic levitation/propulsion, autonomous vehicles, electric bicycles, ride sharing, and personal devices to promote mobility through affordable housing ventures.

We need to start cooperating to solve the big problems facing our society and Spencer believes government should facilitate that coordination, but elected officials must foster trust and engagement, which is why Spencer does not accept donations from PACs, corporations, or lobbyists. Let’s get moving.
