Statement: In 2012, I ran to reform state government and provide bold leadership for our state. Since being elected, I helped form the bipartisan Majority Coalition Caucus, changed the rules of the Senate to give everyone a voice, and delivered real results on jobs, education, and the budget. I am proud of our work to stop repeated attempts to add billions in new taxes while reducing college tuition for the first time in state history and adding $4.6 billion to our public school system.

I see the changes we have made over the last four years and understand there is more work to be done. We must continue to address our funding challenges in education, develop sustainable budgets that represent our values while not burdening future generations, and enact policies that grow our economy and allow for creation of jobs.

My wife and I have four children, and I’m deeply concerned about the future of our great state. Many in Olympia have lost touch with the people. You can be assured that I won’t lose touch. My priorities are to create jobs, lower taxes, eliminate government waste and improve student achievement.
