Community Service: Nancy and her husband of 25 years, Jeff, are cofounders of SAFE Washington which assists faith communities with emergency preparedness. Nancy is active in organizations supporting military and veterans. She has served locally and nationally with the Society for Human Resource Management and in developing security and human resources industry standards.

Statement: I believe that our nation is strongest when we are united and treat one another with respect and dignity. The best outcome for our nation can be achieved by engaging with people from diverse backgrounds, listening to their experiences, then working to find collaborative solutions that achieve balance without compromising core values.

I am running for Congress because I believe that too many of our elected officials seek partisan advantage at the expense of their constituents and our national interest. I will listen to and represent my constituents and country, and not any political party or special interest group.

Our government needs to return to the objectives described in the Constitution: providing for domestic tranquility, common defense, and general welfare so that individuals can enjoy the benefits of liberty. When I joined the military, I took an oath to support and defend the Constitution against all enemies foreign and domestic. I continue to stand by that oath and will consider all actions through that lens.

As a veteran with a husband and two adult children who are also veterans, I am acutely aware of the need to keep our promises to those who have sacrificed to protect our freedoms and to defend our nation from foreign aggression.

I support this nation's enduring values of liberty, opportunity and equality. Every American should be empowered to reach their full potential and none should be held back by discrimination or governmental overreach. By exercising both fiscal and environmental responsibility, we will leave our country stronger for future generations.
