and two children. I have been a public servant my entire working life, this is
my calling. I am also a board member of the Jefferson County YMCA.
Statement: My name is James Kennedy and I would appreciate your vote
for Prosecutor. Even our small community experiences serious crimes, and we
need to handle these cases with compassion, competence, and integrity. I have
extensive management experience have prosecuted in five counties.
My management experience as an Army officer taught me that
success depends on cohesive teams with good training and a leader who is
willing to work hard. That’s how I will lead.
I will renew our focus on victims by ensuring that they are
safe, heard, and by protecting their privacy. I also know that crimes are often
committed by people needing treatment and therapeutic courts, I hope to expand
these opportunities. Our prosecutors need training on traffic crimes, sex
crimes, child abuse, and domestic violence. I will revive our dormant child support enforcement program.
Our civil department will always be ready to provide advice to all departments
and facilitate the evaluation of contracts.
I have endorsements by those that have regular contact with
the Prosecutor’s Office: North Olympic Fraternal Order of Police, court staff,
probation officers, defense attorneys, treatment counselors, and two previous
Port Townsend City Attorneys. They know change is needed, I hope you do too.
