English, Olympic College, 6 years. Owner of a
resume service in Bremerton, Washington serving
Shipyard employees for 11 years. Freelance writer, 3 years. Grants writer
and administrator, 2 years.
Education: M.A., University of Tennessee. B.A., University of Houston.
Graduate, Highline High School, Burien, Washington.
Community service: Volunteer and employee for Literacy Council of
Kitsap. Volunteer computer instructor, Kitsap Regional Library. Vice-
President, Kitsap Peninsula Knitters Guild.
Statement: I will be a voice for working people. I was born in Bremerton,
where my parents both worked in Shop 31 at PSNS during WWII. I
worked, got an education, and returned here in 1981. My daughter and
granddaughter were also born here and live in town. For many years, I
ran a resume service, helping Shipyard personnel and others to gain
promotions and new employment. I was known for getting people jobs. I
support unions and have been an active union member.
I will be vigilant in spending the city’s money, scrutinizing budgets and
contracts for problems that might arise down the road. I’m familiar with
local issues including housing. I won’t rubber-stamp a new housing
development because it is called “affordable” until determining that
normal people can actually afford it. I’m also aware of problems with
access to safe and convenient health care and public transportation and
will work with others to solve these problems.
I will be accessible. I will have a phone number, a Facebook page,
and an email address. I will respond to all reasonable questions and
comments. I will also send out a monthly email newsletter and hold
quarterly neighborhood meetings.
