Statement: The County Council is a nonpartisan body. It should represent the people in a balanced manner. It doesn’t. I’m saying no to partisan politics. I’m not seeking endorsement or money from any Party. Let’s start talking and actually listening to each other to solve our problems. Let’s run on qualifications and issues not labels.

The County budget currently is about $189,000,000; I’m the only candidate with experience with multimillion dollar budgets. The Council is overspending and preparing to raise taxes to cover the shortfalls; I believe we should operate within our means. Let’s use common sense when making regulations, weighing the implementation costs with the expected outcomes.

Mayors across the county have endorsed me and believe I have the skills to work effectively with them, including Lynden, Nooksack, Everson, Sumas and Ferndale. So have the hard-working families of the Washington Farm Bureau and Whatcom County Association of Realtors.

District 3 is broad and diverse. It’s the only district without government representation at any other local level. We have different needs and struggles than other districts. We need a strong, experienced person at the table to negotiate positive outcomes for rural residents. I would be honored to receive your vote.
