Statement: The management of the Port of Bellingham's incredible assets will require a plan with vision. Our role is to assist and enhance existing business. 60% of private sector jobs come from existing operations and we need to do everything in our power to make sure they have the stability they need to keep our economy vibrant. The other 40% are from new business start ups or recruitment.

Our focus should be on how to get more business for Marine Trades, more visitors to for our tourism industry, more access to our agricultural products, better access to information and technology talent and a waterfront that drives people to the core of the City of Bellingham.

We must also maintain an environment that is conducive to the creation of start ups. There is volitility in start ups but more excitement and creativity. The Port can play a key role in supporting this activity. The waterfront should be a great mix of old and new business as well as a diverse mix of industiral jobs, marine activities, tourism and housing. That's what makes a great Port

Ken has been married to Dee Dee for 24 years they have 2 adult daughters.
