Statement: It has been an honor to serve you on the Snohomish County Council. Since taking office, I have worked with residents, business owners, community leaders, and other elected officials to make progress on the priorities I ran on last year, while bringing a balanced approach to government. My priorities include reducing traffic congestion and standing up for fiscal responsibility. I am proud to say that we have made great progress on both of these. I have traveled to Washington D.C. and Olympia to fight for funding to fix 522, 9, US 2, and the trestle. I also voted to renovate the County Courthouse, opposing a brand new building, saving the taxpayers over $100 million. I am proud of the progress we’ve made on these issues, but there is more work to be done. I will continue to fight for fiscal responsibility and reducing traffic congestion in East County including US 2. Public safety continues to be a priority as we work toward solutions to combat drug abuse and homelessness. Sam’s leadership has earned him strong endorsements from Republicans (including Representatives Dan Kristiansen and Mark Harmsworth), Democrats (including former County Executive Bob Drewel), independents/nonpartisans, labor and law enforcement.
