Elected Experience: 33rd District PCO representing local precinct voters and neighborhood; assisted other candidate campaigns.
Other Professional Experience: Army Officer for over 37 years; plenty of experience in dealing with complex organizational structures using innovative practices while still getting things done, keeping Generals engaged, sustaining high standards, and working with NCOs to ensure Soldiers were trained and needs taken care of. This was ultimately tested while deployed overseas for Operation Iraqi Freedom.
Education: Bachelor of Arts from Wichita State University and higher level professional education from Army and Department of Defense.
Community Service: Boy Scout Troop 237; member of various Veterans and Military Organizations; longtime recycler.
Statement: Martin Metz has lived in Des Moines since 1994 and has a Daughter with grandsons in Kent. He will be a strong voice for South King County, drawing area citizens together for important decisions, and putting principles over party to solve tough issues.
Martin advocates reducing Governmental burdens on local businesses, helping families succeed during difficult times, ensuring accountability in children's' education along with parental engagement, and respecting property rights (received Citizens' Alliance for Property Rights rating of Outstanding). As a veteran, he wants to ensure other Veterans and currently serving members are supported along with their families.
