Karin Ashabraner

Elected Experience: Twice elected as President of the Peninsula Education Association (2007-2011), this is my first run at a political office.

Other Professional Experience: City of Gig Harbor - Assistant to City Administrator; Peninsula School District - 8th grade US History teacher 15 years; US Army - retired after 22 years

Education: BS, University of Washington; MAT, University of Puget Sound; National Board Certified Teacher

Community Service: Peninsula Education Association Treasurer; Veterans of Foreign Wars Board of Trustees; 50th General Hospital Association Board; Gig Harbor United Methodist Church; active grandmother

Statement: Our persistent high unemployment rates on the Peninsula are unacceptable. We simply need stronger leadership in Olympia. We need legislators with the courage to end tax breaks that aren't creating jobs. These dollars need to be reinvested into successful economic development projects or our public schools.

I'll be the only person in the legislature with recent classroom experience. I'll bring firsthand experience in the classroom ensuring the next generation can compete in the global economy. Let's get back to the basics, end partisan bickering and manage our state budget responsibly like families do every day. I ask for your vote.
