Statement: Over the years I have met many of you, probably on your doorstep when I was asking for your help in an election campaign. I began my political efforts talking with you, my friends, and neighbors. As a state senator, I will continue to listen to you. That is where I believe democracy begins.

We live in a diverse community where disagreements and conflicts are inevitable. Dealing with frictions within families has been my professional work. Political friction is not so very different. Understanding all sides is the first step toward solutions that can bridge the many divides in our district. Working openly and cooperatively with all parties is the democratic way to move our lives together forward.

Government is one of those things that we cannot live without. Like it or not, it affects every aspect of our lives. As your state senator I will make decisions that affect you personally, your family, your work, and virtually every other activity. Although it is impossible for us to agree on everything, I will always take your concerns to heart.

I will continue to pursue politics of inclusion and fairness.
