Community Service: 2011 Washington Council of Police and Sheriffs Legislator of the year; 2009 and 2010 Washington County Auditors Legislator of the year; 2009 Public School Employees Legislator of the year; 2008 Central Washington Grain Growers Legislator of the Decade; Business Institute 2008 Legislative Star; 2006 Underground Utilities Association Legislator of the year; 2005 Washington Healthcare Legislator of the year; 2005 YMCA Strong Kids, Families and Communities award.

Statement: Mike is a fourth generation Wenatchee Valley resident. Mike and his wife Mary have been married for 33 years and have three grown children, Abe, Cassandra and Maureen. He is in his sixth term serving the citizens of the 12th Legislative District. Mike's leadership in bringing Eastern Washington issues to Olympia has been recognized throughout the State as evident by his numerous legislative awards. He has a strong working relationship with Legislators across the entire State of Washington. Mike is currently the ranking member on the House Transportation Committee and has held two leadership positions in the House Republican caucus.
