John McCoy

Elected Experience: Member of House of Representatives since 2003.

Other Professional Experience: Started career in technology in 1965 and was on the team that tested the first communications satellite, launched the Internet, developed and tested protocols to improve the Internet throughput. Designed, developed and implemented computer systems at Unisys, including automation of the White House. Led regional economic development projects as General Manager of Quilceda Village.

Education: High school diploma. Some college courses at University of Maryland and community colleges.

Community Service: 20 years of service in the Air Force. Led tribal investments in Boys & Girls Club and helped put computers in classrooms throughout Marysville School District.

Statement: John McCoy is a trusted leader, Air Force veteran, husband and father who stands upfor our priorities in Olympia. In tough economic times, he fought off cuts to education, helped pass the Jobs Now Act to put us back to work, and made sure there is a safety net for vulnerable citizens. As Chair of the House Technology, Energy & Communication Committee, John is a champion of expanding broadband access and making investments in alternative energy sources.

Born and raised in Snohomish County, John is committed to keeping this a great place for all of us to call home.
